Last Daily Image of the Year

Emotion & Feeling

* ADDING EMOTION & FEELING

1. Adding emotion make a great photo because it helps a viewer connect with a piece if that emotion is common in the viewer.

2. The photo should express what you see & feel.

3. Faces convey emotion easily because of the facial expression and physical state of mind.

4. Sitting & observing your photos will put the people around you in a more relaxed stance.

5. The question you should ask yourself before shooting is “What emotion am I trying to convey?”

Emotions & Mood

* CREATING MOOD

1. The writer of the article says that mood for him is all about the feeling of being there, tends toward relaxation and similar feelings that make the viewer want to walk right into the picture and sit there for a while.

2. A common element that can add mood to a photo is fog.

3. Storm clouds add mood because it gives off a dramatic effect of the dark, ominous & threatening sky.

4. An effect that running water can give off is calming.

5. Many different people can find many distinct moods in a photo because what creates a feeling in one person might not work that way in another.

Textures

1. Texture is the visual and mainly the tactile quality of a surface.

2. Shooting texture take photography one step further because it conveys the viewer not only how something looks, but also how it feels to the touch.

3. The bonus of photographing bricks is because it has the ability of creating patterns & symmetrical shapes.

4. One plant texture you can photograph is a tree bark because it has a lot of interesting quality as in glazed smooth or dry, also the peeling and rough surface.

5. One touchable quality of paint is a shiny new coat.

6. Stone lend itself to texture studies because its both in nature and urban settings.

7. Some aspects of wood that are inspiring are twisted roots, roughly chopped fire piles, & visible gnarls & knots.

8. Three fabrics I can photograph at school is cotton, silk and polyester.

9. One quality that rope has rough & fraying. In my school a rope can be found in the gymnasium.

10. Metal is a good material to photograph because it is smooth, cool & reflective, rusty, tarnished & dull because of these textures it gives off an age which fills the photographer with excite.

Silhouettes

1. A silhouette photo stand out because of the combination of their simplicity but also the story that they convey.

2. The strategy for taking a silhouette photo is to place your subject in front of some source of light and to force your camera to set its exposure based upon the brightest part of your picture and not the subject of your image.

3. To "get your light right" is to place your subject in front of a sunset or sunrise.

4.Your light source should be shining from the background than the foreground of your shot.

5. The background of a silhouette should be a bright cloudless sky with the sun setting because the front will be a nice and plain, but have a bright background.

6. A profile is the features of someone like their nose, mouth, eyes etc. This makes a better silhouette picture because they are more likely to be recognized.

5 More Elements of Composition in Photography

1. Framing help show the main idea of the picture by highlighting the main point of interest and/or put it in the context to give the image "depth".

2. Perspective is a technique of portraying volumes and relationship on a flat surface. In a picture perspective emphasized different points of interest, angles, textures, shapes etc.

3. Space can be use in a picture to capture a subject in its context. It also helps create a sense of intimacy and a more personal connection.

4. Balance in a photograph is not only just symmetry but having a secondary point of interest counter balancing the main focal point of an image.

5. The bad points in using color in a photograph is that if it is place in the wrong position they can distract viewers of an image away from focal points, however on the other hand colors can play a positive role in a photo by giving off mood and feelings to the audience.

"The Girl who Loves to Levitate"

1. The artist name is Natsumi Hayashi & she lives in Tokyo.

2. Levitation is the raising or rising of the body in the air.

3. Natsumi Hayashi make herself levitate by equipping herself with a SLR and a self timer so that when she feels the right moment , she presses the shutter button down & jump.

4. Strangers would think that she is mentally ill because she is always jumping around and they don't see a reason for her actions.

5. She stated that her reason for taking these levitation pictures is because she hope when people look at her photos they feel a instant relief of stress.

Adding Variety

1. One technique that I used recently is experimenting with different "modes". I use the sports mode when I capture a picture of Terrence at his soccer game.

2. I haven't thought of using shooting using different formats & Moving my subject around.

3. The technique that I will use next is continuous exposure modes.

4. It creates a series and produce a lot of different varieties of poses.

5. The continuous shoot is a good idea because the subject might be more relax and comfortable to act like themselves.

6. One last tip is to take note of what you're doing, so that you can review your pictures and look at your mistakes or success so that you can reproduce better shots.


Photo Planning

1. A "snap happy photographer" is taking a picture of the same thing multiple times, of everything that is in sight without giving it a second thought.

2. Over planner is a person that spend too much time trying to get a perfect picture, by trying to make sure that everything is right.

3. I am a snap happy photographer because I use up a 1g memory card a day taking pictures.

4. What is going on in the background of this shot? & Is the place I'm shooting in light or dark?

5. Taking too much time can kill a creative moment because the mood of the person can change.

6. It is important to ask yourself a lot of questions as you take a photo so that you can have a great shot.

Assignment Depth of Field



1. Depth of Field (DOF) is the distance in front or beyond the object that is in focus.
2. A small depth of field emphasize the subject of interest while everything else is out of focus while a large depth of field that everything would be in focus and sharp details.
3. My 3 photos shows small depth of field because there's only one main sharp focus and the rest is blurred.
